Short Bio of the new Somali National Security Advisor.

Hussein Moalim Mohamud Sheikh-Ali is the interim National Security Advisor to President of the Government of Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo. Prior to this post, for the more than three years he hold a position as a senior security advisor and the principal counterterrorism advisor to the previous administration. He was also a member of the National Security Council, the highest decision-making body for security issues in the Federal Government of Somalia – of which he fondly took part its recommencement.

Regarded as a keen strategic thinker, he drafted the first counter-terrorism strategy for the Federal Government of Somalia, Amnesty and Reconciliation Policy on Alshabab and spearheaded the creation of the Financial Reporting Center (FRC).

Outside of the Presidency, Hussein Sheikh-Ali served for more than four years as External Security Director in the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). His portfolio included: counterterrorism, counter piracy, counter intelligence, and liaison work with partners. He also briefly served as Deputy Director General of NISA.

Hussein Sheikh-Ali has an undergraduate degree in History and done masters in Intelligence & Security Studies.
